Email to MP

Hey Everyone
Would you please send on this email, or one similar, to your MP? Mum has been in contact with the MP. When She spoke with him he was very sympathetic to the needs of Haitians and particularly the children. He will be presenting these concerns at the House of Commons shortly. It would be wonderful if he received understanding and support from fellow MPs who have also heard and support these concerns. Here is a quick link that can help you find the information you need to contact your MP:

Dear

I am writing in regards to the many children currently residing in orphanages in Haiti. While I understand that the children already in process will be able to be united with their forever families there are other children in the orphanages who were relinquished or have had orphan status prior to the earthquake and were waiting for a family.

It would be our intention to find a way for these children to find homes in Canada with families who have exisiting approved homestudies or who already have Haitian born children. Not only would a process to help these children into homes be of benefit to them, as importantly, it would provide room for the many children who have been recently seperated or orphaned as a result of the earthquake. With new spaces in the orphanages these desperate children would then be able to have shelter, food and medical care rather than live on the streets or possible die from lack of the basic care. Those would be pointless deaths.

Lastly, it would please us if you could somehow facilitate bringing some of these earthquake orphans to Canada. They could be placed in approved foster homes until which time their living family is located. If no family is found, these children would begin the process of permanent adoption into a Canadian family. I understand the need for due diligence; however, I also know the tremendous need in Haiti. We are available and able to help.

Please consider the urgency of our request, and the willingness of many Canadian families to help. We have little time to waste. I am confident that the Canadian Government will continue to work on behalf of these children currently exisitng in dire conditions.

I look forward to hearing back from you,
